Dear Parent(s),

Spring is in the air, and it is once again time for us to remind students of the appropriate dress requirements for

Batesburg-LeesvilleElementary School. Proper student dress is an important part of creating a positive learning environment. With the help of parents, I feel that we will have very few problems with student dress at our school.

Below is a copy of our Dress Code expectations. Please review this with your child and assist him/her in making the right choices for school dress.

I can’t thank you enough for your attention to this matter. It takes all of us working together to ensure your child’s success.

Sincerely,

Dr. Darlene Stephens, BLES Principal

Dress Code

  1. All students must wear shoes. Shoes must be tied, buckled, or worn as the manufacturer intended. Flip-flops are permitted under our current dress code. However, they should be worn with maturity.
  2. Hats, caps, or other forms of headgear may not be worn inside the building. This includes such items as scarves, bandanas, and “do-rags” worn on the head.
  3. Offensive or suggestive writing, pictures, or patches on clothing depicting alcohol, drugs, or tobacco products are prohibited.
  4. Clothing shall be worn with appropriate undergarments. Tank tops with straps smaller than the width of a credit card, see through blouses or shirts, and bare midriffs are prohibited. Trousers must be worn in an acceptable manner.
  5. Pants shall be worn so that they do not “sag” showing the student’s undergarments.
  6. Belts must be buckled, sashes tied, and buttons buttoned except at the neck.
  7. Shorts are permitted, but must be appropriate. When holding the arms to the side, shorts should not be any shorter than the bottom of the finger tips.
  8. Any clothing or hairstyle, which tends to be attention getting as to disrupt the educational process, is prohibited. This includes possible gang colors (blue and red scarves, for example).
